Writing the Short FIlm

with Maria Solecki

SATURDAY 9TH APRIL – METAL IN THE PARK, CHALKWELL HALL

11AM – 2:30PM

‘ESSEX FILM COLLECTIVE are collaborating with METAL as part of ESSEX WRITERS HOUSE 2022 to bring you a new workshop designed to take your short film script to the next level.

Whether you are a seasoned writer with a script that needs lifting or you have a great idea that you aren’t sure how to get down on the page this workshop is for you!

This half day course run by Maria Solecki explores all the essential ingredients on how to write a great short – including character, genre and structure. By the end of the workshop, writers will have the tools to develop their short into a marketable script.

You’ll leave with an understanding of: the role of the short film; the role of the screenwriter; what makes a great short; and mistakes to avoid. We’ll explore why less is most definitely more- and why short form storytelling can be just as powerful as other forms.’

Writers attending the workshop were invited to stay from 2:45pm to join ESSEX FILM COLLECTIVE members for relaxed networking drinks at METAL in the park.

Writers can bring an existing project to develop or just an idea. Basic writing experience useful but open to anyone with an interest in writing for the screen.
