Meet your hosts- Makenna (Producer- The Movie Method) & Aram (Writer & Director)
as they take you through their process for successfully applying for film grants and
public funding.

In this workshop, Aram will cover all things creative. He will take you through how you
need to create a project that is geared towards ‘funding appeal’, how to build out a
rounded proof of concept and a pitch deck of dreams that not only accurately conveys
your creative vision, but also gets funding bodies excited by being involved in your
project.

We then move over to logistics with Makenna as she takes you through an example of
budgeting your project specifically for funding applications. She also covers the wider
community impact of your project, and how you can bolster up your application to give
yourself the best chance of being granted funding.

Finally, the two come together to talk about how they approach funding applications as
a director/producer duo- the important things that you need to keep in mind, and things
they wish someone told them before they went on their film funding journey!

We will keep time back for a short Q&A, so bring your pens, notebooks and questions
at the ready- we’re going to hit the ground running and teach you how we previously
secured funding for ourselves, projects, and how ultimately you can give yourself the
best chance at doing the same!

This workshop is for you if you’d like to apply for film grants, public funding or funding
competitions. It’s for you if you are willing to prioritise mutually beneficial working relationships throughout your work, and if you’re wanting the support of the film industry.

This workshop is not for you if you want to send off a bulk email/generic application
and have money drop into your lap- it takes some work & it’s definitely a process, but
you ultimately get out what you put in!

THE PITCHING ROOM – THURSDAY 4TH APRIL

Optional Add on-  purchase a combined ticket to a separate pitching room session with
Aram/Makenna to go through your projects specifics and to get their help with tailoring the
‘angle’ of your application. They can answer project specific questions & advise how they
would approach grant applications with that project.

In the style of a pitch room, every one has a set time to share their idea & pitch their
project- you can sit in on other pitches to watch how others do it, and hear their feedback.
This workshop is for you if you have a project that you would like to take through funding
grants and applications for funding.

This workshop isn’t for you is you have a couple of vague ideas that you’re wanting to
bounce around- unfortunately due to the limited time with everyone we wouldn’t be able to
give you extra time for that, and a 1-2-1 format would be a better way to get what you need
out of a session.
